Vintage Thursday Thingies - Kitchenalia

I LOVE to collect vintage and retro kitchenalia - some of my finds have been these little gems:

A 1960’s Bonco flour sifter from trademe

Two green 1970’s Tupperware containers from our op shop for 20 cents

This funky 1970’s enamel pot from trademe

Large plastic bread bin also from trademe

I’d love to see your retro and vintage kitchen items too - for more Thursday Thingies visit The Apron Queen.

Family photos from the past

I was going through some of my old photos on my computer and found these gems:

On the left is my great great grandmother Kathleen McKenna from Monaghan, Ireland (on my grandmother’s side) holding my grandmother as a baby. I think the time would’ve been around 1917. On the right is my great great grandfather (on my grandad’s side) Joseph de Silva who came over by ship with his family from Spain, stopped in South America where some of them settled but the rest including him came here to New Zealand.

He was a hairdresser by trade and it’s easy to see where some of my dark colouring comes from - if you could see my mother she’s very olive skinned and Spanish looking.

These two photos are of my sister and I when we were little. I think I was 3 then and she would’ve been about a year old.

Futuristic Fashion

Check out this vintage video of what designer’s thought fashion would be like in the year 2000.

Wow some of them are far out and the 3rd piece of clothing looks like a sort of jumpsuit from the 1970’s or 1980’s - something like maybe Sheena Easton would have worn!

No I never owned one of those - did you?

Retro Kitchens - Brown and Red

Wow - I’ve been looking on flickr for pictures of vintage kitchens - here’s a couple I found - see what you think:

Oh my! This one reminds looks like a carousel in a fair - wow I’m not sure I could get use to waking up the morning and stumbling out to the kitchen blurry eyed and seeing this creation! I wonder what the designer was on at the time?

I really like this one! It looks cosy and snug and at least there’s room to move around. I’m not sure if that’s lino or carpet on the floor though.

Which one do you like or dislike?
